As part of efforts to improve product competitiveness, the Trade Ministry will hold its annual Good Design Indonesia (GDI) product design competition for the second time.
The ministry’s national export development director general, Arlinda, said better designs would boost non-oil and gas exports.
“We hope winners offer better-quality designs this year so that we will have a bigger international market,” she said during the launch of the competition in Jakarta on Monday.
Registration is open from April 17-May 15.
Participants can submit designs for furniture, home appliances, transportation and electronics, among others.
The ministry has teamed up with Japan Institute of Design Promotion to hold the event, with support from the Japan External Trade Organization.
“The winners will be given product publicity in local and global markets,” she said, adding that winners’ products would be showcased at the upcoming international event of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2018. Last year, 134 participants took part in the competition. The ministry picked eight winners, whose products will represent Indonesia in a similar competition in Japan called G-Mark this year. (bbn)
