If you've ever wanted to create your own wizard-in-training, the new Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is just what you're looking for. The game is the first to let players "experience life as a Hogwarts student."
A mobile RPG, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery lets you "attend classes, learn magical skills, form friendships or rivalries with other students," all of which contribute to the story arc of your custom-made Hogwarts student.
Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City, the studio behind the upcoming game, said he " can’t wait to give fans a first look at the game" during A Celebration of Harry Potter later this month. The game will be on display during the event, so fans can get an early taste of their virtual Hogwarts lives.
The game takes place in the time "when Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley were students."A customization system in the game lets you change your appearance "as you gain new expertise and magical skills," and you also have the opportunity to choose your own pet.
Progressing through classes and studies at Hogwarts opens up new areas, "spells and other magical abilities."
The full game releases in the second quarter of this year. Niantic confirmed in November it's still working on an AR Harry Potter game, but hasn't given much more information other than acknowledging its existence.
