Friends of Public Library hosts book sale

The Friends of the Rochester Public Library hosts a used book sale April 26-29.

The sale takes place at the Library, 500 Olde Towne Road, Rochester.

Hardcover and large softcover books are $1, paperbacks and children’s books are 50 cents. Also available are many DVDs, CDs, books on CD, board and digital games and VHS tapes that are also inexpensively priced. 


The first day is a presale for members of the Friends group from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25. Public sales hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 27; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 28, and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29. Sunday is also Bag Day, where buyers can fill a grocery bag of remaining items for $5 a bag.

Physical therapists demonstrate proper stretching

DMC Physical Therapists will be at the Southfield Library at 6 p.m. Monday, April 30 to present how proper stretching reduces risks for injury.

“Good postural control relieves excess stress on joints and balances muscles. Posture and flexibility is important in early years and throughout life to help protect our joints and spine,” said Certified Athletic Trainer Charlene Quenneville.

This program is free and open to all ages. Registration is required by calling 248-796-4380 or emailing krothley@southfieldlibrary.org.

Remodeling firm wins Detroit Home Design Award

This year was the 14th Annual Detroit Home Design Awards, honoring professionals of award-winning home design.

MainStreet Design Build in Birmingham was among the category winners for Small Space Remodels out of hundreds of entries.
