The family-run company is celebrating 30 years in the Santa Clarita Valley in August, and staff are planning another expansion later this year after recently expanding their showroom.

“We just keep growing and adding,” said Lisa Woodward of Woodward Kitchen and Bath. “We’d love to see everybody just drop in and say hi to us.”

A continuing trend in the kitchen and bathroom remodel world in Santa Clarita is the installation of white cabinets, according to Woodward.

“White cabinets don’t seem to be going anywhere,” she said. “We are seeing a little bit of an uptick on doing stained cabinets again, but white is still really hot.”

Another big trend in Santa Clarita home remodels is “marble-look” countertops, Woodward added.

“Most people are putting in quartz countertops and they’re going for a quartz that’s going to resemble marble,” she explained. “Marble is super soft, it stains, it etches, it scratches easily… Most people want it to look pristine, to look like HGTV, so quartz is the best alternative. It will give them that marble look and it will look like new forever.”

While many people think starting with a bathroom remodel will be less expensive than a kitchen remodel in Santa Clarita, Woodward noted that this isn’t usually the case.

“The facts are though that you’re going to spend more per square foot in a bathroom than you would in a kitchen, mostly due to the fact that plumbing fixtures are not inexpensive, and the labor to install them also is not inexpensive,” Woodward said. “Most people are doing tile tub surrounds, tile showers, and while tile itself might be inexpensive, installing it? Not so much.”

In regards to the growing number of home remodel shows on channels like HGTV, Woodward said some can be misleading, but she enjoys some as well.

“Anybody that will motivate you to learn to love what you live with and to help you, to motivate you to improve your property so that it makes you feel like it’s a happy place to go home to — I think that’s a good thing,” she said.
