Ellen Pompeo’s Los Angeles Spanish villa is renovated, restored, and ready to hit the market. The >Grey’s Anatomy star and her husband, music producer Chris Ivery, recently listed their 2,456-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom home for $2.795 million, nearly 13 years after Pompeo first purchased it for $1.295 million back in 2005.
The two-story house, which sits in the historic Whitley Heights neighborhood in the foothills above Hollywood, is marked by an elegant design and luxurious detailing, starting with a long, zigzagging staircase that leads from the street to the stained glass and carved wood front door. Beyond the main entrance is a foyer leading into an inviting double-height living room with a huge fireplace, a trio of arched windows, and wood-beamed ceilings. There's also a media room and a dining room that’s connected to the kitchen, which boasts hexagonal terra-cotta floor tiles and top-of-the-line chef amenities, including a commercial-style six-burner range. The dining room itself offers a rustic, warm hearth feel with space for a long communal wooden table.
Both bedrooms are located upstairs, connected by a Jack and Jill–style bathroom with wood-plank ceilings and a deep soaking tub. The rooms feature plenty of natural light made possible by generously sized windows overlooking the lush backyard with panoramic city views. Outdoors, a simple rectangular swimming pool marks the focal point of the backyard, with a small orchard, numerous olive trees and four tall palms filling out the space around the green lawn. A number of terraces are ideal for lounging and dining alfresco.
Just last year, Pompeo and Ivery sold another one of their Los Angeles properties: a 1960s contemporary located up above the Cahuenga Pass. The couple offloaded the stunning home for $2.075 million to a boutique hotel executive. And shortly afterward, they also listed their custom-built barn-meets-luxury-loft home in the Hamptons village of Sag Harbor for $3.795 million. The couple currently primarily reside in their 8,000-plus-square-foot Mediterranean mansion in L.A.’s Laughlin Park enclave, which they purchased for $3.475 million back in October 2009 and have since redone with the help of interior decorator Martyn Lawrence Bullard.
